With updates, changes, additions and much more coming soon, its time to step back a bit and think of the people who keep the Servers running.

We are very lucky to have a team of 21 people who are diverse in nature, yet come together for one common goal: Making sure the DuncsWeb Server is fair and enjoyable for everyone.

These volunteers take time out of their lives to ensure that the chat is clean, players requests are answered, troublemakers are removed, and ensure help is available wherever possible in the game and on the website.

Unfortunately many times these things are overlooked or taken for granted, and they do not receive the respect or thank-you that they deserve, so on behalf of the community I'd like to say:

THANKYOU DUNCSWEB STAFF!

Without you guys (and gals) the Server would not be where it is today, and I encourage players to give respect and thanks in the comments and in-game to the people who are keeping our servers fun, safe and alive!

Autofarm / Mob Trap Crackdown, A Revision to the Rules

It appears that there have been several farms set up that allow automatic retrieval of items for players, or traps set up for killing that hurt/kill mobs automatically.

Making a button that "collects" items (regardless of the item type) is classified as an autofarm, even if you plant things in the first place.

Making a mob trap that damages the mob in any way before you fight it is also prohibited.

We'll be removing autofarms that "collect" materials and mob traps that damage the mobs on sight, and we urge you to report any to us using the modreq system.

We understand that these contraptions are made from people who spend a lot of time on the server, but we deem it unfair for others who join and do not know how to make these, and also due to the work involved, aim to increase the value of such materials.

Update: It appears that this has uncovered some other things. As a rule of thumb, with mob traps, you MUST fight them (with them undamaged previously) and they MUST be able to hit you back. Using doors or walls to prevent them hitting you will be removed.

DuncsWeb Town Video Competition Winners (Server 1 and Server 2)

On March 11th, we launched a competition with a chance for a town to win 100,000 gigs. The rules were as follows:

We're looking for a YouTube Video showing who you are, the best parts of your town, and an explanation why players should choose you. Extra points will be awarded for creativity, effort, and originality.

Settling in Our New Home, 1.2.5 and The Town Competition

Hey guys,

Our transfer to the new box is fully complete, and we've noticed some nice speed improvements already. both of our addresses should not have fully updated (mc.duncsweb.com and mc2.duncsweb.com). If you can't connect, the respective IPs are 108.174.56.218 and 108.174.56.219

If you're now running 1.2.5, you can connect to our Server without issues (we are still running 1.2.4 currently but this will change very soon). If you are a Sponsor or above, our fly has been updated for 1.2.5 here

We're very sorry for all the delays in the Town Competition, the final date for the winner announcement is Monday 9th April at 6PM, so make sure you get your entry in to possibly win 100,000 gigs!

Delays, Delays and Delays

Hey guys,

Just wanted to give you a quick update on the status of our New Server.

It's been a troubled thing to try and get up and running, we've gone from having trouble sourcing the SSD Hard Drives, having delays of the built server being transferred to the DataCenter, and most recently, after testing it has turned out that one of the RAM sticks has failed.

I am not going to give a solid date in case anything else decides to rear its ugly head, but we will have it all up and running very soon. I'm very sorry for the continued delay of the town competition, but when all data is moved and we're good to go, there will be a 24 hour period after this when the winner will be announced.

If you try to connect to the Server and it is in whitelist for a significant amount of time, this will be us moving the data (all new stuff you do after will be lost otherwise), so be sure to keep an eye on the website when it happens.

Thanks for your patience guys, and a big thanks to all the staff for keeping everything running smoothly

Updates + Our New Server

As you may know, Minecraft 1.2.4 has been released.

You may have been getting a "Outdated Server" message recently because the code for us to use hadn't been updated yet. We're all good to go now and you can connect with your updated client.

Getting a "Outdated Client" error? You can click update, or "force update" in options to update your client.

Those looking to fly can now download the mod HERE (Sponsors or above only can use this)

Our new server has been built and is on its way to the datacenter, we should have this set up Monday. Be aware that we will need to whitelist the servers when we transfer the data.

We're Back, but we're not Done!

We've managed to get our old Server back online!

I understand some of you are missing your towns, so we're allowing you to head back to the Old Server and make some progress :)

Apparently our new Datacenter are still waiting on the parts to build our new box for us, so we may have to wait a couple more days for that (and likely a white-list while we move, but we'll give you some warning).

If your addresses are still pointing to the emergency temp server:

The town competition will be (once again) delayed until we get onto the new server. Keep an eye on the finish time to the right of this post on the homepage.

Current State of our Minecraft Servers

Hey guys,

I know the servers have been up and down for a couple of days, and I've just received word on why.

Apparently over the weekend our server has undergone a series of large scale attacks, and according to the Datacenter, our server has been attacking other servers. I know for a fact that we have nothing on our Server that would do this, so I have no idea how they have come to this conclusion (but apparently they have evidence).

As a result they've blocked access to the Server, our host will be attempting to contact them today to try and get us back online, or at least get our data from the Server.

As you guys know, we've just ordered a new server (this is in no way related to the above), and if we can't get the old up soon, we'll be setting up a larger temporary one for you to connect to. You can access the following server to get your minecraft fix for the time being: 78.138.99.57

We have word that the new one will be available mid-week, so we'll get that set up and redirect the IPs, and hopefully we can get access to our old data and transfer it across. The datacenter we are moving to has better protection against these attacks.

I'm very sorry for the downtime folks, this isn't a "restart the server" situation. When a server gets attacked like this all we can do is wait. We've not run into a situation like this before, and hope it gets resolved quickly.

The Town Competition will be delayed until we can get ourselves back on our feet, and we'll give you 24 hours from that time to get any last minute videos on.

Update: We've received word back from our host that there shouldn't be any trouble on getting our files back, none of your stuff should be lost

Update #2: Confirmed, all stuff will be accessible and will be transferred to our New Server

Update #3: We're now initiating the transfer of 102GB of files to the Temporary Server. We'll still need to set the new one up (in the next 2 days) and transfer, but we have some progress!

Update #4: We're having some hiccups with the transfer, and we're waiting for an ETA for the New Server, it could be another day or so, we're trying our best, sorry! We've also had more information on these so called "attacks", which we don't think is us, nothing seems suspicious.

The only thing they get to see is a long list of Town Names, and not truly what the town is about.

After some testing on Server 2, and with a relatively stable update down the pipe from the Bukkit team, both servers have been upgraded.

In a dramatic turn of events, we've taken the risk of upgrading Server 2 to 1.2.3. Once again, expect bugs.

The Good News We've extended our border from 9001 to 15000, and players have discovered Jungle Biomes already! We'll be extending the border of our Server 1 map too!

Server 1 will be converted as soon as we think we're stable enough to use it, this could be a few days off. In the meantime, check out Server 2 for 1.2 goodness!

Still Waiting - Do Not Update!

Do not click update just yet!

Just to keep you guys updated, the core code has been completely changed meaning a lot of old plugins that havent been updated do not work, causing a few of our things to stop functioning.

The bukkit team released a version for 1.1 which I've been testing against, and we're waiting for them to release a recommended version for 1.2

I've been testing our stuff on a 3rd Server, and at this stage it is best to wait a few more days before releasing. I would say 65% of our stuff works currently (some with workarounds), but there is a possibility that the other 35% may never be updated. We'll try and find workarounds where possible.

I will post here what will or will not work on the new update, and Server 2 will receive the first upgrade due to the small amount of data. If all is well and reasonably bug-free, Server 1 will then be upgraded. All announcements will be posted here.

We say reasonably bug-free because we're sure as you know, Minecraft is never bug-free! Expect some!

P.S Rest assured all critical data such as Towns and Money should work in the update (although may be slightly buggy)

P.P.S Those of you who want a map reset may be in for a little treat when we update, keep a look out for details ;)

Minecraft 1.2 Release

We've just learned from this post that minecraft will be releasing tomorrow (1st March 2012)

We'd like to, as always, warn you of the following:

DO NOT UPDATE IF YOU WANT TO PLAY WITH US!

We'll let you know when it is safe to update here, and from the results of our poll, nothing will be lost in the update. No reset will occur on both servers (but don't blame us if there's any problems!).

Update: 1.2 is out, and we are now testing plugins internally ready for when we can use them, if you've mistakenly upgraded to 1.2 or get a connection reset/end of stream error connecting, you will need to downgrade your minecraft to 1.1 to play with us, a guide has been posted HERE

What should be do when 1.2 arrives? Have your say

Hey guys,

A few minor changes have happened recently, and we thought we'd let you know.

Firstly, a small alteration to the Forum boards, you'll be able to see Announcements, Competitions, Giveaways and leave feedback right at the top of the page. This gives you a quick overview of what's happening with us.

Secondly, Future giveaways will require you to make post with your name on the Forum, instead of making a comment on the article. This is due to the sheer number of replies we receive with you guys participating!

Thirdly, We've also introduced a new Introduction Forum so we can get to know you guys a bit more. Feel free to start a thread and tell us a bit about yourself, and advertise anything you own (YouTube Channel, Website etc)!

Fourthly, We've brought back an old mod, Sonark as a moderator on the Server, and have promoted Yuikana to Administrators on the Minecraft Server. Both are very capable and helpful individuals and will directly benefit you with the added help, and we look forward to having them with their new positions on-board!

That's it! Just an update to let you know how we're getting on. Don't forget to have your say on the 1.2 Update, keep an eye out for some cool competitions we'll be setting up in the near future, and tell us about you!
